Pump up the volume
Sunday 4 March was a big day for members of Doreen, South Morang and Plenty Fire Brigades who participated in an advanced pumping course.
After many nights of theory and practical training, they completed the Advanced Pumping course on Sunday morning with a practical assessment at Ivanhoe Grammar in Doreen.
The members demonstrated their skills using various fire trucks, pumps and a collar tank. Delivering water over a long distance, calculating pressure loss and flow rates, had the students working under realistic conditions.
The skills they have been taught will be reinforced with regular training at their brigades and on the fireground.
Congratulations to all the participants on making the day such a success.
Thanks to Ivanhoe Grammar for the venue, the District 14 instructors and the many volunteers who supported the event with their expertise and time.
